The station opened on 1 July 1908; it was on the original route of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway, but was not one of the original stations. On 18 December 1931, a freight train became divided at Dagenham Dock. Due to a signalman’s error, a passenger train ran into the rear portion of the freight.
