Choosing a router My personal recommendation is the TP-Link AC1200. It’s the one I use at home, and it works brilliantly. If you don’t want to use the AC1200, any router that supports VDSL will work.
Can I use any router on Plusnet?
We strongly advise taking one of the routers we supply, unless you’re an experienced Internet user. When you sign up to Plusnet broadband you can choose to take a wireless router. Be aware that many providers lock routers to their network so you may not be able to use it.
Can I use a BT router with Plusnet?

Can I use a Sky router with Plusnet?
Sadly you can’t use your old Sky Q hub with PlusNet as Sky locked down the firmware and you can’t reconfigure it. Your mileage may vary, of course. As for using a mesh network, those will work fine as they just plug into an Ethernet port on your router.
Does any router work with any Internet provider?
Any router will not work with any ISP (Internet Service Provider) because it has to be compatible with the internet connection type offered by the ISP. For example, if your old provider uses a DSL line and your new router supports a broadband connection, the two will be incompatible.
Will BT Hub 6 work with Plusnet?
One other thing to note is that if the Hub 6 is old and your Plusnet password includes special characters you may need to change this to connect to Plusnet. This has been corrected on newer Smarthubs. If you have a working hub and you follow the instructions carefully you should have no problems.
