Tectonic Ritual
Exploration of space within space, connecting mind and body. An attempt to push the limits of knowledge by applying Wolfgang Von Goethe’s phenomenological methods for observation. Exploring the material clay, black ink paintings, textile, and mirrors to illustrate Goethe’s scientific steps in an attempt to create a more responsible and sustainable approach to the natural world around me, and my perception of the material. Having mushrooms and the complex concept of mycelium as my companion species for the journey to illustrate the idea that there are far more complex structures in nature, and not always be blinded by the tip of the iceberg, simply the beauty of what is apparent to the naked eye. Playing with the visual experience versus cognitive perception in my understanding of the world and its matter, while reflecting on the nonsensory aspect of our experiences.
